Pushya nakshatra is the 8th nakshatra of the zodiac belt and it lies entirely in the sign of cancer. The ruling deity of this nakshatra is brihaspati, who is the divine god of knowledge and wisdom. This nakshatra is known as the " star of nourishment" and the gana of this nakshatra is deva , which means god-like. It is also a kshipra nakshatra , which means it has  a quick and swift moving quality. Any activity carried out on this nakshatra day would be carried out quickly and would yield instant results. This nakshatra is regarded as a very auspicious nakshatra and is believed to bring in luck and prosperity. Pushya is also the name of a heavenly archer called "tishya" , so sometimes this nakshatra is also called as tishya. The desire of this nakshatra is to possess the spiritual knowledge and good fortune is often associated with this nakshatra. The symbol of this nakshatra is the cow's udder, which again symbolizes nourishment, the ability to nurture people and be unbiased and non-judgemental.This nakshatra has the energy to produce great psychic healers, teachers, politicians, gurus, counselors, professions related to children, dairy industry etc. 

Depending on which planet sits in this constellation, the results would differ. Jupiter gets exalted in this nakshatra at 5 degrees because it is a planet which seeks true spiritual knowledge and divinity. Jupiter in pushya can make the individual extremely benevolent and kind hearted. It also helps the person to find their happiness in attaining higher wisdom and knowledge thorough their gurus.
