AUSPICIOUS TIME IN ASTROLOGY/MUHURTA : HOW TO FIND THE BEST TIME TO START ANYTHING ?
In Vedic astrology, we give a lot of importance to Muhurta. Every event is supposed to give the best results when done at a particular time. That auspicious time is known as Muhurta, if things are done according to this time, it seems to align perfectly with the cosmos and nature helps us to execute that task fruitfully. This auspicious time would differ according to each person's individual chart and alignment of planets.
This time can be known by different methods, one of them would be the Auspicious Day to start something, for a general overview of this, the person's ascendant has to be seen. The planets which rule the trine houses (1, 5 or 9) in their chart should be noted. These planets are auspicious for the ascendant and generally such days would give good results. For eg: In case of a Leo ascendant, the auspicious planets would come out to be Sun, Mars and Jupiter. This shows that Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday would be favorable days for this person. However, for analyzing this perfectly the individual placements of these planets should also be seen in the chart. Suppose Jupiter goes in the 6th house in Capricorn for a Leo ascendant, then it is no longer auspicious. Similarly, the planet mercury is pretty neutral for a Leo ascendant as it rules the 2nd house and 11th house, but if mercury sits in the ascendant, then it would be considered auspicious as now it gains strength and also forms Dhan Yoga. So, like this every individual would have to analyze their strong and weak planets. The Navamsa chart also plays a significant role in this, as it has to be seen if these strong planets are still retaining their strength in the D9 chart or not.
The second method of determining the auspicious time is through the use of Planetary Hora. Every hour of the day is ruled by a particular planet. If any activity or task is done related to the significations of that planet, then the universe helps you to perform that action beautifully. For eg: If you want to do something creative, then you should do it in the hora of Venus. If you want to write or communicate something important, then it must be done in the hora of Mercury. If you want to do to a temple or do something religious, then Jupiter Hora can be used. If it has something to do with physical/manual labour or cleaning, then one can choose Saturn hora. In these hours, the planets are the most active and help you to complete that task smoothly.
- Sun Hora : Performing something religious, government related work, father/paternal family related work or doing Yoga.
- Moon Hora: Meditation, Work that involves emotions/feelings, Nourishing or Feeding someone, Mother related work
- Jupiter Hora: Education/knowledge related, Religion, Work involving Teachers/Professors, Legal or Finance related work
- Saturn Hora: Work involving hardwork or which requires patience, Dealing with Machinery, Legal or Death related work
- Mercury Hora: All communication related work, Education/ Learning related, Work that involves the use of humour/sarcasm, Learning new languages
- Venus Hora: Relationship related work, Listening to music, Designing or Creating something , Dancing or work that involves pleasure, Work involving women, Shopping
- Mars Hora: Exercising, Wrestling or boxing, Gymming, Competing with someone, Work related with Fire.
The third method of determining the auspicious time is using Nakshatras. Some nakshatras are auspicious to certain things, while some are not. So the day, on which a certain major event/decision of your life is taken should be aligned well with the nakshatra that is rising on that day. For eg: No marriage is ever done on a Pushya Nakshatra day as this nakshatra is not considered favourable for marriage. Every nakshatra has a particular energy associated with it. For all healing/health related work, nakshatras like Ashwini, Hasta and Pushya nakshatra are considered favourable due to Kshipra quality associated with them. These nakshatras are also favourable for commencing a new journey and carrying out any transactions/trade. Punarvasu, Shatabhisa, Swati, Shravana and Danishtha nakshatras can be used for beginning a new journey, changing your home or for starting a job as these nakshatras have a chara quality, which means movable. Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Shada and Uttara Bhadrapada are fixed nakshatras, which means they are suitable for performing tasks, that can have stability like laying the foundation for a building, planting trees or purchasing new property. Any auspicious activity like marriage should be avoided on Ardra, Bharani or Purva Bhadrapada days as these nakshatras are pretty fierce and intense. They can be used to tasks that involve the use of weapons, fire or for activities like breaking up with someone. All these activities require courage and the person needs to be bold to perform them. Mrigashira, Revati, Chitra and Anuradha nakshatras are mridu which means soft and gentle. These can be used for performing pleasant tasks like singing, doing creative things, and for all Venus related activities.
