THE 27 NAKSHATRAS: PURVA PHALGUNI NAKSHATRA CHARACTERISTICS & QUALITIES

LORD: Venus

SYMBOL: Swinging Hammock

DEITY: Bhaga, The God of good fortune

RANGE: 13°20' - 26°40' Leo

Purva Phalguni is the 11th nakshatra of the zodiac belt.  It falls entirely in the sign of Leo and is known as the star of fortune. This constellation is quite similar to Rohini nakshatra in many respects and is one of the wealth giving nakshatras. Since it is ruled by the planet Venus and lies in the sign of Leo, which is the original 5th house of the chart, it gives immense creative abilities to the native. People who have a prominent Purva Phalguni in their horoscope ( Moon/  Ascendant lord/ Atmakaraka/Ascendant/ 3 or more than 3 planets  in Purva Phalguni) can be excellent musicians, dancers, artists, speakers, anything to do with creativity. This is a very materialistic nakshatra and having major planets in this star makes the person extremely charismatic and charming. Such individuals love music and are very sensual, just like Rohini nakshatra. They are also extremely flamboyant and would always gain attention whenever they go out anywhere. They love socializing and hanging out with large groups of friends. This nakshatra can also make the individual very sexual and amorous since the Purushartha of this nakshatra is Kama, which means desires.

The symbol of this nakshatra is a swinging hammock, which beautifully depicts the true nature of this nakshatra. These individuals love to relax and wish to live a happy-go-lucky and a carefree life. They love spending a lot on all fashionable and luxurious items. Having Venus here would definitely amplify these qualities and would also make the person very romantic and sensual, specially if Venus is the 5th or the 7th lord. Having 12th lord in Purva Phalguni can make you an excellent dancer. 3rd lord in this nakshatra would make the person extremely expressive and can make them a good writer. Rahu in Purva Phalguni would also amplify the materialistic desires in the person, but it is good for someone who wants to excel in any creative profession. Having 2nd/12th lord or Sun in Purva Phalguni would also make the person's vision weak and the person would most definitely need to wear glasses at some point in their life. Since the animal symbol of this nakshatra is a rat, it shows that the person would love hoarding or collecting things (mostly materialistic). This nature comes from the rats. Purva Phalguni natives also sometimes blinded with many things in their life, they are not able to have a broad vision and only think about the short term gain. If 7th lord or Venus is in Purva Phalguni, the person would have a tendency to become blinded in love. If 10th lord or Saturn goes in Purva Phalguni, then the person could become blinded by their work, status or position. Having 11th or 3rd lord in this nakshatra would make the person have a lot of desires in their life.

Venus does pretty well in this nakshatra. It makes the person prosperous, but can create a few issues in relationships. Mercury and Jupiter also do well in this nakshatra. Since these two planets are connected with education and knowledge, it can also show someone who teaches any creative subject like singing, dancing or painting to students. Since this nakshatra falls in Leo, such individuals  would love glitter and gold. They would prefer having clothing items which are very shimmery and full of bling. They would like to do everything in a dramatic and over-the-top manner. Eg: If they have to propose to someone, they would make sure that everyone knows that its happening and they would do it in a grand manner. They don't like simple and bland things. For them, life has to be full of colors and it has be be lively. By nature also, it is very difficult for them to sit at one place for a long time. If things become boring in their life, they always make sure to use the elements of Venus to make their life colorful.
