THE 27 NAKSHATRAS: JYESHTA NAKSHATRA CHARACTERISTICS & QUALITIES

LORD: Mercury

SYMBOL: Umbrella, Circular Amulet, Earring

DEITY: Indra

RANGE:  16.40' Scorpio - 30.00' Scorpio

Jyeshta Nakshatra is the 18th nakshatra of the zodiac belt. It falls entirely in the sign of Scorpio. This nakshatra is ruled by the planet Mercury. Jyeshta means the eldest. People who have this nakshatra prominent have the mental power to analyze various things in life. This is a pretty intense nakshatra and natives with prominent jyeshta are also quite secretive. This nakshatra would become prominent in your chart when you have your 1st house lord, ascendant, Moon or Atmakaraka in this constellation. Having three or more planets in this nakshatra would also make this stand out in your chart. Since this is falling entirely in the sign of Scorpio, it takes into full consideration the qualities of this sign. These natives might have also suffered from a lot of struggles, both internal and external in their early life and it takes more time for them to achieve whatever they wish to have in life. It shows that they achieve success late in their life. Over their life span, they also have a lot of accomplishments and are treated in a superior way by their family members and also people outside their family.

When it comes to their career and profession, they are capable of entering into professions related to government, administration, any creative field like jewelry designing. They can also do well in fields like journalism, martial arts or any profession where risk taking is involved. Such individuals love challenges and they are pretty good at dealing with competition. They can also make good writers if the 3rd lord and Mercury is connected with this nakshatra. To see if the native would pursue a profession related to this nakshatra, it is important to look at the 10th lord, Saturn and Moon in the D1 chart. At some times, it would not be clear with the D1 chart only and one must also look at the D10 chart for accurate predictions.

Such individuals are also quite nervous and have a lot of insecurities, which they don't like to share with others. They are definitely more mature than their age and also have to take responsibility and ownership of a lot of things in their life. They are good with networking and are able to connect very easily with other people. They are also good with understanding other people and can be quite psychic. If Moon/8th lord or Saturn is connected with it, it can also produce someone who is a brilliant psychologist/psychiatrist. Talking more about their personality, Jyeshta natives can also be a bit egoistic and short tempered. They also suffer from indecisiveness and many times, they are confused between a lot of things in their life. They also attract a lot of jealousy from other people when they receive a lot of things in their life. A lot of times, it may also happen that they end up destroying their own creation and then start from scratch again.

If Venus occupies Jyeshta nakshatra, then it shows the native would have a deep rooted connection with the spouse and it also goes that marriage would bring in major transformations for the person. Depending upon how Mercury is placed in the chart, things would differ. If Mercury is in good dignity and is placed well, the results would be beneficial and the person would also be able to achieve all the things that the native desired after marriage. If Jupiter occupies Jyeshta nakshatra, then it shows that the native can be connected to a spiritual/religious organization and would love to read about Mythology and would love to research and investigate on deep hidden things. If Mercury is in Jyeshta, then it can show that the person could write very well and would be able to spread their message and ideas to a large network of people. It can also show someone who could be connected to media or would be an undercover writer and be connected with a profession where a lot of investigation and scouting has to be done. It can also show that the native might attract jealousy from his/her friends.
