HOW TO PREDICT MAHADASHA RESULTS ?

Mahadasha is a period of time in Vedic astrology that is used to predict the events and circumstances of a person's life. It stands for the main time period in a person’s life where the native would feel greatly impacted by the planet whose mahadasha is running in the chart. Every planet has different years allotted, for eg: Rahu’s Mahadasha is for 18 years, Mercury’s mahadasha is for 17 years and Venus’s Mahadasha is for 20 years. There are different ways by which one can assess how the MD would go and what results it would offer to the native. This depends on the house the MD planet rules, the sign in which it is placed in, the houses it is aspecting in your natal chart and if it is becoming the Nakshatra lord of certain other planets. 

A very quick and easy way to interpret the MD results is through the concept of Dasha Lagna. For this one should make the MD planet the ascendant and read the chart from there. Then one should see which all houses it is ruling after making this planet the ascendant. The lord of this planet also becomes to look at it, where it is placed and which all planets it is getting conjunct. If the lord of this planet is strong, then it shows that the results would be favourable. It is also important to look at the placement of the MD planet in the D9 chart. 

Eg: If the chart is a Virgo Ascendant with Mercury in the 9th house and the person has started running his/her Mercury Mahadasha, then to interpret the MD results, you would make Mercury the ascendant and read the whole chart from there. Venus is placed in Aries and Mercury is with Sun & Mars. In this MD chart, Mercury would be ruling the 2nd and 5th house and it is conjunct Sun, which is becoming the 4th lord and Mars rules the 7th and 12th house. The native can expect a lot of new changes in their life as Mercury is the ascendant lord, when we make it the ascendant, it rules the 2nd and 5th houses also, so events related to those houses also become active. The native could start a new education or may start a family in this time. Since the 4th lord Sun is also with Mercury, it can show buying new property or buying a new house. The lord of Mercury is placed in 12th house in Aries, which shows that Native would also travel to some foreign places and might also go abroad for education. It is also important to look at the nakshatra in which Mercury is placed in, its lord and to see where it is placed in the chart, would also give clues to, what one can expect in that time period. 

To assess whether the entire mahadasha would be favourable for the native or not, one can see how other planets are placed with respect to the Mahadasha planet. If majority of the planets occupy Kendras or Trikonas, then it shows that the MD would be good. If planets occupy Kendras, it shows that the native would rise and would achieve strong positions. If many planets come in Trikonas, then it shows that the native would get blessings and may achieve a lot of knowledge and prosperity in that time.
